To the most under-appreciated tool we’re equipped with in this life

The day I was born the standard was set

The way of alerting me when something’s is not right

I can push snooze to avoid dealing with the inner chaos

But guess what, it just reminds me just a short time later

No you can’t completely turn off the instinctual alarm

Only postpone correction and allow the disease to grow

Yes pain, you are in no way fun to make nice with

But you keep me alive, aware of all that tries to sneak in

Sometimes I treat you as the enemy, like you’re the one slowing me down

But you’re my ally, signalling an attack on all that is as it should be
